Feedback-dominated Accretion Flows

چکیده
We present new two-fluid models of accretion disks in active galactic nuclei (AGNs) that aim to address the long-standing problem Toomre instability AGN outskirts. In spirit earlier works by Sirko & Goodman and others, we argue is eventually self-regulated via feedback produced fragmentation its aftermath. Unlike past semianalytic models, which (i) adopt local prescriptions connect star formation rates heat feedback, (ii) assume self-regulate a star-forming steady state (with parameter Q=1), find processes are both temporally spatially nonlocal. The accumulation many stellar-mass black holes (BHs) embedded gas displaces radiation, winds supernovae from massive stars as dominant source. nonlocality heating, combination with need for efficiently mix throughout gas, gives rise steady-state solutions can have Q>>1 no ongoing formation. self-consistent much space mass rate. These harbor large populations compact objects may grow factors few over lifetime, including into lower upper gaps. feedback-dominated differ significantly structure commonly used 1D disk has broad implications gravitational-wave-source inside AGNs.

A Simplified Solution for Advection Dominated Accretion Flows with Outflow
The existence of outflow in the advection dominated accretion flows has been confirmed by both numerical simulations and observations. The outow models for ADAF have been investigated by several groups with a simple self similar solution. But this solution is inaccurate at the inner regions and can not explain the emitted spectrum of the flow; so, it is necessary to obtain a global solution for...
متن کاملSpectral Models of Convection-Dominated Accretion Flows
For small values of the dimensionless viscosity parameter, namely α ∼< 0.1, the dynamics of non-radiating accretion flows is dominated by convection; convection strongly suppresses the accretion of matter onto the central object and transports a luminosity ∼ 10 − 10Ṁc from small to large radii in the flow. A fraction of this convective luminosity is likely to be radiated at large radii via ther...
متن کاملAdvection-dominated Accretion Flows: Optically Thin Solutions
General properties of advection-dominated accretion ows are discussed. Special emphasis is given to the optically thin branch of solutions, which has very high ion and electron temperatures and is thermally stable. This solution branch has been applied to a number of low-luminosity accreting black holes. The models have resolved some puzzles and have provided a straightforward explanation of th...
متن کاملParticle Heating in Advection-dominated Accretion Flows
I review particle heating by MHD turbulence in collision-less plasmas appropriate to advection-dominated accretion flows. These considerations suggest that the preferential turbulent heating of protons assumed by theoretical models is only achieved for relatively subthermal magnetic fields.
متن کاملThe Magnetohydrodynamics of Convection-Dominated Accretion Flows
Radiatively inefficient accretion flows onto black holes are unstable due to both an outwardly decreasing entropy (“convection”) and an outwardly decreasing rotation rate (the “magnetorotational instability”, MRI). Using a linear magnetohydrodynamic stability analysis, we show that long-wavelength modes with λ/H ≫ β are primarily destabilized by the entropy gradient and that such “convective” m...
